Comfortable 4/3 double frontzip wetsuit from Prolimit
The Prolimit Mercury 4/3 Double Frontzip 2027 Wetsuit is the wetsuit that covers the biggest part of your kite year. From April until well into November you are sorted, and on mild winter days you can still get away with it. Prolimit uses the Free-zip closure, which we call a double frontzip: your back stays free, your shoulders move without resistance and hardly any water gets in when you go down hard.
What makes this wetsuit stand out is the material. NaturePrene2 contains no oil-based neoprene and no limestone, but natural rubber harvested on FSC certified rubber plantations. That base is eighty percent natural rubber and twenty percent recycled carbon black, recovered from shredded car tyres. Add to that oyster shell powder from washed-up shells and plant-based soybean oil. It sounds like a recipe, and it is: the result is rubber that is stretchy and warm while being a lot less demanding on the water you are standing in.
You see the same approach in the rest of the production. The lining fabric is dope dyed, which means the colour goes into the yarn before it is spun. Compared to traditional dyeing that saves over a hundred litres of water per kilo of fabric. The panels are bonded with water-based Aqua Alpha glue, without solvents. And because there are no extender oils in the rubber, the whole thing is PAH free and REACH compliant, which your skin will notice after a long session too.
The warmth comes from the 4-layer build with Thermal Rebound2, which bounces your body heat back at you and blocks windchill. The Neolight heather 550+ outer fabric with Quad Flex adds stretch in every direction plus a woven grid for extra strength, and inside sits the quick drying Zodiac2 plush fleece. On top of that you get FTM taped seams, KED knee panels, drainholes and ankle straps.
